About Us

We began breeding in 2016 with our much loved Labrador, Coco. Despite the lack of sleep and impressive amount of poo, we decided we quite liked raising puppies, and have been doing it ever since. Since then, we have expanded to the working type Golden Retrievers. The dogs live on our working farm in the fens, where they hear all the normal sounds of the countryside like birds and tractors. More pictures of them can be found on their individual pages, and on Instagram (Russbaca_Retrievers)

In 2017 we became KC Assured Breeders, and in 2020 we received our dog breeding council licence, gaining the highest rating possible for a first time licence holder. This means that the KC and the Fenland council have inspected our premises and dogs and are very happy with their standard of living. In 2022 we were inspected once again and have been granted a 5 star licence, the highest that can be awarded. Our animal welfare licence number is AW078.

The Kennel Club have officially ended the Assured Breeder Scheme as of 31st December 2024, but we still adhere to the same higher standards.

We have a diploma in dog breeding and are currently undergoing several other qualifications involving dog training.

Our goal is to breed healthy, confident puppies that go on to make excellent working companions or active family pets. Some of our previous puppies are training to be therapy dogs, gun dogs and some are doing well in agility, while others are much loved members of the family.

We also have some stud dogs, fine examples of their breeds who have all passed their health tests and have lovely personalities. We use them on our own girls first, so we know they are ready and able to produce wonderful puppies.

We health test all of our dogs to a high standard, meeting and sometimes exceeding the required and recommended testing. All of our dogs are hip and elbow scored, and have eye checks every year. They are all extensively DNA tested as well, and our Golden Retrievers have their Gonioscopy tests as well.
